Satire

Satire

Satire is a humorous form of correcting or changing something for the better. In the article The importance of proof reading. The use of a spell checker is being satirized. The author of this article (Taylor Mali) is trying to explain the importance of proof reading since a spell checker can't make everything correct. Throughout this article he didn't prof-read to show the reader how it would effects your work if you don't proof read.

I read an article by The Onion on Saudi Arabian women getting the right to vote. They satirize their freedom doing silly jokes such as "They allow them to celebrate their right to vote in 2015. The officials even lowers the daily whippings received by women from 10 to 7"

In "Advice to Youth", Mark Twain gives information he has been waiting to give to kids. He tells them that they have to listen to ther parents, and strangers. He tells the kids that they shouldn't lie because it will get them a bad reputation in the eyes of others. He also tells them that they should be in bed early and lastly never handle guns carelessly. While he is giving these kids good advice, he is also giving bad advice to them. Yes he tells them to obey their parents, but when they're present. He says kids shouldn't lie, but that lying is a matter of practice. That's like saying that they can lie if they knew how to. Another example, guns, guns shouldn't even be in the mind of kids. They shouldn't even know what a gun really is. There were as well some spelling errors in this paper. He can't give these kids advice while not using correct spelling, or not even wording things right. I believe that Mark Twain brings out some really influential ideas, but he isn't able to support them with good reasons. I also believe that if we are trying to teach a kid the right way, we should prepare what we have to say, word everything right so it can be easily understood, instead of misinterpreted.
